Sunday 4th July


Referees seminar, meeting & bbq at AIS Theatrette


12pm  – 2:30pm, 
The Referees Technical Seminar is an important opportunity for the tournament referees to meet, learn and discuss how they will be officiating at this year’s McDonald’s Kanga Cup. It is very important all tournament referees attend; this will be followed by a BBQ before they make their way to the Opening Ceremony.

Officials Meeting

 

3-4pm,  While the teams are lining up for the annual team march for the Opening Ceremony, the team manager’s head to the AIS Theatrette to receive information and directions from the McDonald’s Kanga Cup Organising Committee.  Each team will be allocated a kit bag full of essential items for the week ahead. Volunteers will be on hand to shuttle managers to and from the AIS Theatrette.

 

Opening Ceremony

 

4pm, The McDonald’s Kanga Cup Opening Ceremony will see the players, coaches, managers and officials of the tournament with family, friends and special guests fill the AIS Arena for an afternoon of colour and culture as together we celebrate the start of the 2010 McDonald’s Kanga Cup. The ceremony will start with the traditional march of teams. The Ngunnawal people will provide a welcome to all members of the football family, the Wiradjuri Echoes will perform a traditional dance while Ronald McDonald and Jackaroo the Kangaroo will strut their stuff! ACT Minister for Sport and Recreation Mr. Andrew Barr MLA will open the McDonald’s Kanga Cup after two players read the McDonald’s Kanga Cup Fair Play Oath. Canberra’s very own football star Kofi Danning from Sydney FC will be in attendance with the official Hyundai A-League Trophy, won by Sydney FC in March!  Kofi is a former McDonald’s Kanga Cup participant and a two time Player of the Tournament! Make sure you get a photo with the trophy and a autograph from Kofi - one of Australia’s brightest football talents!

 

Teams need to arrive by 3pm to be ready for the team march! Teams will meet outside the AIS Visitors Centre.

 

Meet and Greet with English Premier League Referee Peter Walton

 

7:30pm,  Come down to McDonald’s Ginninderra, Emu Bank Belconnen to meet Peter and have a bite to eat after a busy day! Ask Peter all your questions about refereeing in the EPL!

8pm,  McDonald’s Kanga Cup Referees Bowling Activicty

AMF is offering discounted bowling all week to all McDonald’s Kanga Cup participants, make a booking on 6251 6966

 

Monday 5th July

 

9am-4:30pm Games at grounds


Kanga Cup EXPO (Monday to Friday) at the University of Canberra

 

9am-5pm  Football fanatics make your way down to the McDonald’s Kanga Cup Expo to pick up the latest football merchandise from around the world, grab your team’s kit, the latest World Cup strips and souvenirs, sports gear and official McDonald’s Kanga Cup merchandise along with all sorts of other goodies at the official McDonald’s Kanga Cup Expo. Don’t forget to pop into Cafe MoMo for some warm food or go for a stroll around The University of Canberra campus.


Greater Union Movie Night

 

All evening Greater Union Manuka will be hosting the 2010 McDonalds Kanga Cup Movie Night. Kanga Cup participants are encouraged to visit the cinema and watch a movie together after their first day of competition at a discounted rate.

Tuesday 6th July

 Officials Dinner

 

7pm-9pm,  Join the officials, coaches and managers of the 2010 McDonald’s Kanga Cup for a 3 course meal at The Tradies Club, Dickson. Special guest will be English Premier League Referee Mr. Peter Walton.  Additional tickets can be purchased by contacting the Capital Football Office on 62604000.

 

Wednesday 7th July


9am-4:30pm  Games at grounds

 

Moove to the Groove Disco at AIS Arena

 

7-10pm, DJ Stan is back for one of the most eagerly anticipated off field events of the week – the annual Moove to the Groove Disco! TWO discos actually take place one for the U10-13’s and another for the U14-16’s. Come along and enjoy a great night with your friends away from the football field!

 

Referee Seminar at AIS Theatrette

 

7pm, Join Peter Walton for a presentation on refereeing in the English Premiership. An interesting look at the demands of refereeing in the most watched league in the world. No need to RSVP, just turn up.

  

Coaches Seminar at AIS Indoor Synthetic Pitch

 

7:30-9:00pm

 

Coaches and Managers are invited to attend a free practical seminar while their players dance at the disco. Capital Football Game Development Manager will deliver an informative and practical session that you coaches can use. No need to RSVP, just turn up.

 

Thursday 8th July

McDonald’s Kanga Cup Awards Ceremony @ the university of canberra gymnasium – next to the expo!

 

5:15pm sharp, On the eve of the Grand Final’s we invite you to the annual McDonald’s Kanga Cup Award’s Ceremony.  Its not a formal affair but the awards are of great significance and have a proud history. The annual Fair Play & Player of the Tournament Awards will be awarded in every division.  

 

Friday 9th July

 

9am-4:30pm  Finals at grounds

 

McDonald’s Kanga Cup Finals

 

Grand Finals will take place at the best football facilities in the region. A demanding week of football will see the two best teams in each division match up for the trophy. Please refer to the official tournament draw for further details. We wish all teams and players the very best of luck as they battle it out for one of the most sought after trophies in Australian youth football.
